Whether you are looking for a summer house or a log cabin to use as a home gym, playroom or home office there are a number of things you need to consider before you commit to anything.
- Quality of timbers - the wall thickness is a very important aspect of any log cabin as they support the roof and provide protection from the environment. Our cabins are available in wide variety wall thicknesses (28mm, 34mm, 44mm, 70mm, 90mm). We also offer cabins with twin skin construction with a cavity which can be insulated just like the one in your house.
- Flooring - we insist on putting 28mm floor boards in all our cabins as we feel 18mm boards (which many of our competitors use in their floors) are only suitable for roofs where they are not subject to point loads.
- Windows and doors - If you only want to use your cabin for storage, 28mm walls are adequate and these come with single glazed windows. All our other cabins (34mm and above) come with quality double glazed windows and doors and these are designed in such a way to allow for natural expansion and contraction of the timbers in the log cabin.
- Roof Finish - This is your first line of defence against the Irish weather. For this reason we always recommend using a good quality shingles rather than traditional rolls of felt as they last longer and are less likely to crack.
If you are looking for a summer house our sister company North South Log Cabins have a full range of log cabins, home offices and residential log cabins and we are confident you will be able to find what you are looking for.
